News from WHO | Recognition of Fluoride-Containing Entities as ‘Essential Medications’

The IAPD celebrates and embraces and celebrates good news from the WHO: on 1 October WHO announced updates to its Model List of Essential Medicines for Adults and Children, three of which – topical fluoride-containing preparations (such as toothpaste), glass ionomer cement and silver diamine fluoride – are dental treatments featured for the first time.

The IAPD is looking forward to continuing to develop their relationship and work together with WHO to advance children’s oral health globally.
